College Travelling Fellowship

These awards will also support a variety of other learning opportunities including taster weeks for junior doctors.

Scholarships are not intended to fund travel to meetings or to pay for training in the home country, which would normally be considered the responsibility of the employing authority. However, the Scholarship Committee will consider travel to a centre of excellence within the UK.

Funds provided should be used for travel and subsistence of the Member or Fellow and not family members. Awards are not expected to cover salary costs. Appropriate arrangements for study leave and continuation of salary must be made with the applicant′s employing authority.

Awards are limited to a maximum of £2,000 each and are therefore most suited to candidates wishing to visit overseas centres for between two and six weeks. The Scholarship Committee may consider a candidate who has obtained funds elsewhere but in most cases it is likely that we will be the sole sponsor.

Please note: these awards will generally not support attendance at year-long salaried posts or courses or conferences.

Applicants should be within 5 years of commencing a substantive Consultant role. Circumstances such as career breaks, extended leave and less than full time working, will be taken into account with regards to this.
