Reframed – Conversations about Heritage and Inclusion
The Female Body in Medical Education: Representation and Consent
Our new monthly series of digital events reveals our collections in new ways – reframing our heritage to address issues of equality, diversity and inclusion. Featuring the College’s Heritage team, and some special guests.
We're delighted to be joined by Dr Ourania Varsou, Lecturer in Anatomy at the University of Glasgow, for the third instalment of our Reframed series. Ourania will be joining us to discuss how the female body has been represented in medical and anatomical teaching. We'll also be delving into some of the anatomy books in our collection and considering how issues of consent and autonomy could impact on how we interpret and engage with these texts.
The event is free to attend but please book in advance and we’ll send you details of how to join in with the conversation which will be hosted via Microsoft Teams. The event will start at 6pm.
Dr Ourania Varsou is a Lecturer in Anatomy at the University of Glasgow. Ourania teaches anatomy to a variety of students at the university, and specialises in the anatomy of the head and neck, as well as medical imaging. Ourania is a strong advocator of medical humanities and serves as an elected member of the international steering committee for The Doctor as a Humanist (DASH).
