The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is the only multidisciplinary Royal College in the UK. With over 14,000 members who are physicians, surgeons, dental professionals, travel medicine and podiatric medicine specialists our purpose is to inspire and nurture our members to deliver the highest possible standards of care for their patients by adopting a forward looking, progressive approach to training, assessment, career support and professional development.
Established in 2006 and now with almost 500 members worldwide, the Faculty of Travel Medicine wishes to expand its UK membership through the provision of local support, advice, guidance and the delivery of high quality education and training. A key element in support of this growth strategy is the development of an active and engaged network of regional advisors across the UK.

Role and Responsibilities
Working as part of a wide network of medical, surgical, dental and podiatric medicine advisors, and with direction and support from the Faculty and the College, the Faculty of Travel Medicine Regional Advisor will promote the benefits of Faculty membership in their locality and develop a local network of Fellows, Members and Associates who can work together and support each other in promoting College wide activities. The main responsibilities of the regional advisor are to:
- act as local ambassadors for the College and the Faculty
- identify and recruit new Affiliates, Associates, Members and Fellows to the Faculty, encouraging those eligible to apply and acting as a sponsor where appropriate
- develop, promote and facilitate educational activities locally
- promote and publicise the range of activities and services offered by the College
- provide advice, guidance, support and networking opportunities to Fellows, Members Associates and Affiliates locally
The Faculty of Travel Medicine Regional Advisor will be a Fellow, Member or Associate of the Faculty in good standing. They will have a proven commitment to education, training and/or assessment and be able to demonstrate leadership, initiative, enthusiasm and professional expertise towards this important representative role.
The Faculty of Travel Medicine Regional Advisor will be accountable to the Faculty of Travel Medicine Executive Board through the Faculty Dean and Head of Membership and Global Engagement.
The Regional Advisor will work closely with, and be supported by the Faculty Executive Board and staff across College.

Please note that successful applicants will be expected to attend the next meeting of the Regional Advisors, which will be held in London at the College of Podiatry on 25 October 2019.
The term of office will be 3 years with the option to apply for a further term of 3 years.
Regional Advisors are expected to attend an annual workshop as part of their role development.
The post of regional advisor is voluntary although all reasonable expenses associated with the role will be paid by the College in line with our normal policies and procedures.
