Birmingham Regional Advisor for Podiatric Medicine
Robert is Head of the Faculty of Health Graduate School, Birmingham City University, Birmingham, UK. As such he is responsible for all of the postgraduate research degree students within the Faculty.
He qualified from the Glasgow School in 1975 and secured a clinical post with the then Lanarkshire Health Authority, based in Airdrie. In the late 70's he went into teaching and has been in academia ever since: teaching at four schools of podiatry of which he was Head of two - N Ireland and Central England. He is an active researcher and has an eclectic portfolio of research interests.
Notwithstanding his podiatric research interests Robert has research interests in the areas of finite element analysis and computational modelling and chronic pain management.He has held a number of honorary appointments at various European Universities and is currently a Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University, UK. He is also a member of a number of learned societies. Outside education Robert has continued to practice his chosen profession and is an associate clinician in a practice based in Birmingham. In his free time he is a keen sportsman: golf, tennis and taekwondo (black belt) and musician: trumpet and bagpipe player.Email
