Biography

Emma undertook her podiatric training at LSU, University of Southampton, qualifying in 1995 and went straight into general practice within the NHS. Within two years she specialised into musculoskeletal podiatry and took on a senior clinical role developing the musculoskeletal service in podiatry on the Isle of Wight. Having enjoyed mentoring both staff and students during this time, Emma went on to undertake an MSc in Clinical Podiatric Biomechanics at Staffordshire University before making the move to work in higher education full time. Emma has been a lecturer at both Staffordshire and Plymouth Universities with her role at Plymouth having developed significantly since her arrival from Staffordshire in 2003. Emma now teaches many clinical disciplines at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, works in the NHS training podiatry students in clinical practice as well as engaging in the enterprise initiative at Plymouth with patent development. Emma is also currently reading for a PhD in biomechanics of the foot and ankle and has published in peer reviewed journals in the field. In her spare time she enjoys improving her photography skills, working on the garden and planning the next well-earned holiday with her partner.
