Michael E Jones
Honorary Consultant and co-founder in 1983 of HealthLink360, a charity providing whole person health care for volunteers working in developing countries. Mike was an ODA (now DFID) funded Specialist Physician at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, a teaching hospital in Tanzania, 1976-82.
He was a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, Edinburgh with a special interest in tropical and travel medicine retiring from NHS practice in 2014 and continues to see private patients at the Spire Hospital Shawfair Park, Edinburgh. He made five visits to Zambia with the Lothian Zambia HIV/AIDS Partnership between 2003 and 2009, and was in Oman in 2014 and 2015. He was Editor of the Royal Society of Medicine journal Tropical Doctor 1995-2002, and is Associate Editor of Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease.
He served on the Board of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow from 2007, supervised the design and first diets of the Membership of the Faculty of Travel Medicine examination, was elected Vice Dean in 2009 and served as Dean 2012-15.
