Biography

Zaynab is a practicing family law solicitor with Turcan Connell, based within their Glasgow office. She advises clients in relation to financial provision on separation, child contact and relocation issues, as well as the preparation of prenuptial, cohabitation and separation agreements. She regularly deals with cases in local Sheriff Courts as well as the Court of Session, including cases with complex financial issues or international elements.

Building on her years of experience of dealing with relationship breakdowns and child disputes, Zaynab recently obtained her certification as a trauma-informed lawyer from the Law Society of Scotland, a newly launched programme which educates practitioners on the application of trauma-informed principles to their daily practice.

Zaynab first studied English Literature at the University of Leeds before moving towards law, first with an English law degree at BPP College of Law, followed by an accelerated Scottish law degree at the University of Glasgow.

In 2016 Zaynab joined the committee of Scottish Women in Business, becoming vice-president in 2017 and one of the organisation’s youngest ever presidents the following year. In September of 2022 Zaynab will step down after 6 years on the committee.

Zaynab joined the College lay advisory board in 2019, becoming a member of the College Scholarship Committee shortly thereafter.
