Jeremy Bagg qualified BDS (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh in 1979. He was a Leckie-Mactier Research Fellow at Edinburgh Medical School from 1979 -1982, gaining a PhD on the basis of research into bacterial adhesion mechanisms. From 1983 – 1991 he was Lecturer in Oral Medicine & Oral Pathology at Cardiff Dental School, before moving to Glasgow University where he is Professor of Clinical Microbiology and Head of the Dental School. His research interests include the role of oral micro-organisms in systemic disease and the medically compromised, infection control and public health microbiology. He has co-authored 2 textbooks and published over 170 research and educational papers.
