Biography
Alan graduated from the University of Glasgow Dental School in 1993. Thereafter he spent a number of years as GDP in Gourock and then as a CDO in the Community Dental Service in Dumfries and Galloway. He returned to the Dental Hospital in Glasgow to join the SHO rotation where he completed his MFDS and then a MSc. Alan successfully completed his specialist training in restorative dentistry in 2009 and was appointed Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Dental Hospital with a sub specialty interest in head and neck cancer rehabilitation and cleft care. He was TPD for 5 years before becoming Lead Clinician in Restorative Dentistry and more recently Clinical Director of Acute Dental Services for Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
For the College, Alan has served on Dental Membership Services and Dental Exam Board and is currently the College rep on the SAC. He has a long association with the part 2 MFDS exam as an examiner and Deputy Convenor.
