GMC Chair: “Clinical Leaders – patients need you!”

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is proud to announce that the next event in the series of President’s Leadership Lectures will be delivered by Dame Clare Marx, the new Chair of the GMC. Dame Clare will deliver the lecture on the topic of “Clinical leaders – patients need you!”

This prestigious event, which will be held on 7 March 2019 at 6.30pm at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, will be open to the public. Free tickets are now available on the College’s website.

College President Professor Jackie Taylor made the announcement, saying

“Dame Clare Marx is the first woman in history to hold the position of Chair of the General Medical Council since the regulator was established 160 years ago. She was previously the first woman to be elected President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2014.
“We’re delighted to have her deliver this important lecture on the eve of International Women’s Day 2019, where she will provide her unique insight to what I expect will be a packed audience in Glasgow.”

This free lecture is part of a series of public events run by the Royal College which aim to provide a public platform for some of the key issues facing medicine in the twenty-first century. Previous speakers in the series have included Neil Mackenzie from the Faculty of Advocates and Professor John Meara, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change within the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Tickets for the event are free, and can be obtained from the College here.

Doors open for the event at 6pm on Thursday 7th March, and the lecture will begin at 6.30pm.
