Listermania reaches the Scottish Parliament

24 Apr 2018

Listermania reached the Scottish Parliament when Sandra White MSP tabled a motion supporting the College’s activity

As part of our Parliamentary work, the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow asked Sandra White MSP for Glasgow Kelvin and our constituency MSP, to table a motion in the Scottish Parliament to raise the profile and gain support from other MSPs for our celebration of Joseph Lister.

The Motion was tabled on Friday 20th April and commemorates the ground breaking work of Lister, whose research on antiseptic surgery transformed modern medicine as well as welcoming the staging of ‘Listermania’ by the College and its partners in the local community.

Motions provide MSPs with the opportunity to lend support to a variety of topics by signing the motion. To date, 18 MSPs have signed in support.
