A new online decision support tool for health, legal and social work professionals working with children has been launched by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Members of our College can access the tool via the Knowledge Network.

Called “Paediatric Care Online” or “PCO”, the tool provides immediate, evidence-based guidance to inform decisions at point of care together with a repository of supporting reference material and patient/carer information.

PCO UK includes Key Practice Points, decision support tools that cover common signs and symptoms and critical care situations. These provide clinically assured advice and guidance derived from the AAP Textbook of Paediatric Care, which have been modified for UK use following a rigorous editorial and review process by the UK specialist and primary care community. They incorporate national clinical guidance where available.

Other PCO UK content includes the Child Protection Companion, British National Formulary for Children and Public Health England’s Green Book on immunisations against infectious disease.

Further information is available on the Knowledge Network website.
