SNP party Conference fringe event
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and Obesity Action Scotland are holding a joint fringe event about tackling obesity in Scotland at the SNP Party Conference this month.
The terms "overweight" and "obesity" are constantly in the news, with barely a day going by without a story about this epidemic hitting the headlines. According to recent OECD figures, Scotland has the second highest rate of obesity in adults in Europe - only Hungary has a higher rate. The consequences are significant in terms of individual health and direct costs to the NHS. This event will consider the current situation in Scotland, the impact of obesity on child health, and the need for action.
