Volunteering in the library

Our volunteers play an important role in the library; through their work we are able to make our collections more accessible and preserve their use for future generations. We currently have volunteers:

  • Cataloguing rare books and pamphlets
  • Helping to catalogue our archive collections
  • Working on digitisation projects
  • Cleaning our books

If you would like to volunteer please take a look at our current volunteering opportunities and contact us if you are interested.

Current volunteering opportunities

Event: Book cleaning
Date: Thursdays, 10am to 1pm

Every Thursday morning in the library, a small group of volunteers are working hard to help clean and conserve some of the old books in our collection. Please note: This can be dusty work so it may not be suitable for everyone!

If you would like to be notified of any future volunteering opportunities, please email us at library@rcpsg.ac.uk giving an indication of the type of work you would be most interested in.

Work experience posts

We work closely with a number of local universities and schools providing work placements for students interested in library or archive work. Placements are limited and it is often difficult for us to accommodate further work placement opportunities, however, if you would like to be considered for a placement please email us at library@rcpsg.ac.uk.
