  • This course is organised by the Department of Surgery at Aga Khan University and endorsed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

    The course aims to teach residents in urology the core principles of laparoscopic urology with tutorials, discussion sessions, and simulation exercises on animal tissue models. This will be combined with observing live laparoscopic urological procedures in an operating room.

    On completion of the course delegates will have developed basic skills in the following core laparoscopic principles on simulation:

    • Safe access and port placements
    • Ergonomics in laparoscopy
    • Safe use of laparoscopy instruments
    • Improved hand to eye co-ordination
    • Using both dominant and non- dominant hands in co-ordination
    • Depth perception
    • Dissection techniques
    • Laparoscopic suturing

    This course is designed for urology residents with a MBBS (Basic Medical Degree).
