Fiona Irving East of Scotland Regional Advisor for Dental Practitioners
Fiona graduated with honours from Edinburgh Dental School in 1991, and was awarded the FDS RCPS (1994). She started specialist training in orthodontics in Edinburgh in 1995, completed her Master's degree in Orthodontics in 1997, and Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999. Following several years working for the Scottish Dental Reference Service and NHS Fife, Fiona returned to the Edinburgh Dental Institute as a consultant trainee and passed the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Orthodontics in 2011, after which she was appointed to a NHS consultant post in Orthodontics at the Borders General Hospital, as well as working in the EDI, where she is also an honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the University of Edinburgh. Her special interests are the management of patients with hypodontia and orthognathic surgery.
Fiona is the clinical lead for the Orthodontic Therapy Programme at the Edinburgh Dental Education Centre and is also an educational supervisor in the EDI, as well as being an examiner for the MFDS of the Scottish Royal Colleges.
